Year-round

Year-round

In addition to the seasonal things to do in Vermont, there are fun activities that vacation rental guests can enjoy all year-round.

VERMONT VILLAGES - Many Vermont villages retain their sense of history. Just down the road in Townshend (shown above) and Newfane, you'll see the town greens and striking architecture that are often associated with New England. In nearby Grafton, you can visit the blacksmith shop, village store, cheese company, and antique shops. You might even cross paths with a flock of sheep. Other nearby villages that appeal to vacation rental guests are Brattleboro, Chester, Weston, and Manchester.

SHOPPING - If you like purchasing unique items or just looking at them, you'll find plenty to keep you busy. Several nearby towns have interesting art galleries. If antiques are your thing, you'll find many shops in the area, with several in Townshend and Manchester. Or perhaps you're looking for the latest in designer fashion. Manchester's many outlet stores attract shoppers from all over the Northeast.

ART EXHIBITS - In the evening of the first Friday of each month, there is a Gallery Walk in Brattleboro with a wide array of contemporary art on display in the town's many galleries and shops. The same is true on the third Friday night of each month in Bellows Falls at its Art Walk. Both towns are within 35 - 45 minutes of the Windham Country House.

MUSEUMS - Southern Vermont offers several choices of museums within 20 to 40 minutes' drive. There are unique offerings like the American Museum of Fly Fishing and like Hildene, the Vermont home of Abraham Lincoln's family, both located in nearby Manchester. Art lovers can enjoy the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center and the Southern Vermont Arts Center. History enthusiasts can explore the Windham County Historical Society and Museum and the Grafton Museum of Natural History. Drive a little further, and your options expand even more.

RESTAURANTS – While most Windham Country House guests cook great meals in the fully-equipped kitchen, there may be times you want to eat out. Your choices here range from four-star cuisine to down-home cooking and everything in between. Vermont chefs are particular, using local ingredients to provide the freshest and most nutritious food.
