The Windham Country House hosts, Mary McCoy and Michael Simonds, are not your typical vacation rental owners. They see their job as more than providing a great space for your getaway. They live in a separate unit in the Windham Country House so are nearby to help you locate whatever you need for a delightful vacation. Yet they keep their distance, to respect your privacy.

Here's a way to look at your life from a different and helpful perspective.

Michael is a justice of the peace who has performed many weddings and civil unions. He is a carpenter and landscaper, who did all the interior work in the Windham Country House and all the landscaping on the property. Michael is an avid organic gardener, who enjoys sharing his knowledge and the bounty of his gardens. He is a traveler and art collector with some of his collection on display in the house. Michael moved from Boston to Vermont in 1996 to build the Windham Country House, his dream home. He is also the Town of Windham's head lister and zoning administrator.

Mary moved to Vermont in 2003 from Cincinnati, Ohio, and she and Michael married in 2005. Known to her friends as Mac, she is a writer, editor, and consultant to nonprofit organizations. Since moving to Vermont, she has become a gardener under Michael's tutelage. Mary offers guests Reiki treatments and Zen tarot card readings. Like Michael, she loves sharing her home with others who come to Vermont for relaxation.
