Autumn

Autumn

Seeing the fall foliage is one of the best things to do in Vermont for vacation rental guests of the Windham Country House. Beginning in late September, the autumn colors of red, orange, and gold burst from the deciduous trees, beautifully mixed with the dark green of the conifers. Other autumn activities also will please you.

FALL FOLIAGE - At the Windham Country House, you will be completely surrounded by autumn colors.  Because of the secluded location of this vacation home and all of its large windows, you will be immersed in Nature's vibrance. Turkey Mountain, just to the west of the Windham Country House, is a brilliant patchwork of color, and the leafs change daily.

PUMPKIN FESTIVALS - You can venture forth to explore other lovely locations or to experience one of the many pumpkin festivals held in nearby villages. These festivals are great entertainment for young and old alike. You or your kids might just win a pumpkin carving contest!

HIKES - Autumn is a terrific time to explore the many trails near the Windham Country House. The cooler weather is ideal for treks in Jamaica State Park, Townshend State Park, or other public lands. You can also hike the trails at Stratton Mountain, going all the way to the top for an awesome view of southern Vermont. Your less energetic companions can meet you up there by taking the Stratton gondola. One final option is enjoyed by many Windham Country House guests - hike right here on the road or trails from this vacation rental property (seen below).

November offers quiet pleasure

NOVEMBER - The eleventh month is also a special time in southern Vermont. Light snows begin, and with the fallen leafs, you can easily see the details of the mountain terrains. The weather is ideal for hours of hiking. Local Vermonters wonder why more visitors don't come here for a November getaway. Sandwiched between color season and ski season, November lets you experience Vermont's beauty with a quiet peacefulness found at no other time of the year. It's not a spectacular time like fall foliage, but it's wonderfully soothing. Sometimes the best of the many things to do in Vermont is simply to relax.

THANKSGIVING - The Windham Country House is a great place to spend Thanksgiving. There is plenty of room for a gathering of up to 12 people, and the natural beauty will contribute to the feeling of thankfulness. What's more, the Windham Country House offers a Thanksgiving Special, as the owners' way of expressing their gratitude. Come Wednesday and stay four nights for only $850.
